Five Point Podcast – Casshern Sins (featuring Yerocha)

A little crossover I did with the guys at Five Point Podcast. We discuss the beginning of Casshern Sins and see if it holds up to the pedigree I only just learned it had.

Fairy Tail – Lucy in the Sky With Diamonds

Fairy Tail 272

I'd show the actual conclusion, but I can't bear to look at it again, so here's some fanservice.

I am not an easy person to piss off. It really takes a lot of concentrated effort to get me to hate something. But there is one thing that has always and will always get me angry, and that’s when a series makes it look like it has gotten better, then proving that it hasn’t. The best example of this is actually from this very series a few months ago, when they actually addressed my question of how Lucy’s summon spirits were affected by the timeskip. I was briefly impressed that it actually looked into that…and then they used it as an excuse to cut off the training arc. Dammit, my ideas should never be used for evil. Somehow, though, Fairy Tail has managed to top itself.

That Anticlimax Was Rather Anticlimactic

Do you ever hear stories about series with terrible endings? As good as everything that came before was, sometimes the end can completely screw over everything that came before. The best example that comes to mind is the manga version of Usagi Drop, where the concept of family values from earlier on got sidelined for something considerably less wholesome (and the less you know about it, the better). For a long time, these were the kinds of stories I’d been hearing about the ending of Psyren, whose production run was tragically cut short. From the very beginning, I went into the series knowing that it would have a poor ending, but I was determined to enjoy it regardless. Just the other day I finally reached the end, and there’s only one thing I have to say.

Mahou Sensei Negima – The Calm Before The End

Much better than a clip show.

Here I was thinking that Bokura ga Ita was the only series of mine to be ending. It’s an empty feeling when you suddenly learn a story you really like is about to end. I don’t even remember the first place I learned about it, but I do know I checked five different sites just to make absolutely sure it’s true. I mean, how the hell could you end a series like this in four chapters? There’s still too much that needs to be dealt with!

There are a few rumours I’ve heard that the series will have a sequel released after this one finishes. Considering the news that Ken Akamatsu’s contract with Kodansha is set to expire around when the final chapter gets released, this doesn’t surprise me. It wouldn’t be the first time a series concluded and started up in another magazine. If that’s what we get, though, I just hope it doesn’t take the To Love-Ru approach and slowly turn into softcore porn. Read the rest of this entry

The World God Only Knows – Review

The story of the classiest otaku you’ll ever meet.

I ended up getting a new microphone for this review. It sounds similar, although it’s considerably more quiet than before. This mainly affects the beginning, since I wasn’t used to how far away I should be from a standing mic.

As mentioned previously, I’ll be away from home for the next few days for personal reasons. Luckily, I’ll be bringing my laptop with me to the place I’m going, but I can’t currently say how much access to it I’ll have.
